COVID Update – Toronto Image Works

COVID SAFETY

We are open to the public, Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM and Thursdays from 10 AM to 7:30 PM. Masks are no longer required but you are still welcome to wear a mask if you choose to do so. We have masks available at the front desk for any client that would like one.

You can now book either a virtual or on-site consultation using our online booking system.

In the event that you arrive during our hours of operation and the the exterior building doors are locked, please contact customer service at (416) 703-1999, Ext. 1.

We recently had the pleasure to work with L. M. Ramsey @lauramargaretramsey on her CONTACT show titled DAMNED. Opening soon at the CONTACT Gallery @contactphoto This gallery is right across the hall from us! So plan to visit next time you come see us.
DAMNED is a poetic homage to beavers and their home-building capacities, explored through the materiality of photography and its various technological manifestations. While photographic technology is the root of almost all Ramsey’s work, at the crux of ‘Damned’ are concepts and practices rooted in safety, care, collectivity and femininity.

We love the colour and curiosity of these large vinyl prints by Allison Morris @allymorr We enjoyed working with Allison through the testing to final print stages. Allison Morris and Alison Postma blur the lines between photography and sculpture by constructing scenes and then photographing them. Ideas around the body also inform both artists’ work.
Morris uses her own body as a subject, transforming herself into furniture to explore the duality of home. Home can provide a sense of comfort and security but can also be a place of subordination and anxiety.

Postma, who is also a furniture maker, seeks to recreate the bodily sensation of being in a dream. Taking inspiration from movie sets and camera tricks, Postma brings viewers into a familiar, yet fictional, space.

Congratulations to Alec Boyle @alex_singular_ on his acceptance to Maximum Exposure 29 @maxex2024. This wonderful print is also part of Alec’s thesis show exhibiting the immigrant life & assimilation journey of his Italian grandparents. “L’Anima Doppia” becomes a collective space for pondering migration, identity, and the timeless spirit of family across generations.
Printed as a repositionable fabric Wall Cling.

Wishing Jordan Crowder (@ triggermemory) a very successful M. Arch thesis defence today at University of Waterloo! @uofwaterloo
Jordan is an architectural designer and visualization artist. His interest in urban exploring stemmed back in 2013 when he remembers craving the ability to sit on the edge of a skyscraper, witness the city exposed, silenced, framed, yet open. Jordan says “I capture to trace back later what I felt, to hold still, what I remembered, the emotions, the intensity, the heaviness, the vehemence in the nostalgia. A way to trigger my memory.

We think this velvety Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth paper is the perfect compliment to this wonderful photograph by Janice Reid @janice.reid
This artwork, entitled “Marcus,” was captured outside the cherished home of Janice’s dear friend in Kingston, Jamaica. It was an artistic collaboration with Leonie, a creative whom she was truly excited to have finally gotten the opportunity to work with. “Marcus” is a visual tapestry with intricate layers, from the colours, how Leonie’s posed, the poignant portrait of Marcus Garvey, and the empty chair symbolically reserved for him. Janice says the print came out beautifully, and made her miss this day and home.
